How to make it
- Cream the softened butter with the white sugar until pale and fluffy, then beat in the egg yolks and vanilla extract.
- Gradually work in the flour to form a soft, smooth dough, then wrap it and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes so it is easier to shape.
- Preheat the oven to 180 C and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Take small pieces of dough, roll each into a short rope, and bend into a crescent shape, placing them spaced apart on the prepared sheets.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the crescents are just set and very lightly golden at the edges but still pale on top.
- While the kifli are still warm, roll them gently in the vanilla sugar so it clings to the surface, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
- Melt the semisweet chocolate over a pan of barely simmering water, drizzle it over the cooled crescents, and leave to set before serving.
