How to make it
- Cut the loaf of Cuban bread into 4 sandwich-length sections and slice each one horizontally, leaving a hinge or cutting fully through as you prefer.
- Spread yellow mustard generously on the cut sides of each piece of bread.
- Layer the fillings evenly on the bottom halves in order: thin slices of roast pork, boiled ham, Genoa salami, slices of Swiss cheese and finally a layer of thinly sliced dill pickles.
- Close the sandwiches and brush the outside top and bottom with softened butter.
- Heat a sandwich press or heavy skillet over medium heat; if using a skillet, place a second heavy pan or foil-wrapped brick on top to press.
- Grill the sandwiches for 3 to 4 minutes per side, pressing firmly, until the bread is crisp and golden, the cheese is fully melted and the meats are heated through.
- Slice each pressed sandwich in half on a sharp diagonal and serve immediately while hot.
