How to make it

  1. Preheat the oven to 120°C and position a rack in the centre. In a large roasting pan, melt the butter directly in the oven for about 5 minutes until fully liquid.
  2. Remove the pan and stir the worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, garlic powder and onion powder into the melted butter until evenly combined.
  3. Add the corn, rice and wheat cereal squares along with the pretzels and mixed nuts, then gently fold everything together until each piece is lightly and evenly coated.
  4. Spread the mixture into an even layer so it toasts uniformly rather than steaming in a pile.
  5. Bake for 1 hour, stirring thoroughly every 15 minutes to prevent the edges from scorching and to keep the seasoning evenly distributed.
  6. Remove from the oven once the cereal is crisp and golden and smells toasty, then spread the mix on paper towels or a baking sheet to cool completely.
  7. Allow to cool fully so it crisps up, then store in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
