How to make it

  1. Beat the softened cream cheese with the smooth peanut butter and sugar until completely smooth and no lumps remain.
  2. Mix in the vanilla extract, then gently fold in about three quarters of the whipped topping until the filling is light and fully combined.
  3. Warm 2 tablespoons of the hot fudge topping just until pourable and spread a thin layer over the base of the chocolate cookie pie shell.
  4. Spoon the peanut butter filling into the shell and smooth the top into an even, slightly domed layer.
  5. Spread or pipe the remaining whipped topping over the filling for a decorative finish.
  6. Warm the remaining 2 tablespoons of hot fudge topping and drizzle it over the top in thin ribbons.
  7. Cover loosely and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or until firmly set, then slice into four wedges to serve.
