How to make it
- Warm the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat, then add the finely chopped onion and cook for 5 minutes until softened and translucent.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to let it brown.
- Add the cooked ground beef along with the drained canned sliced mushrooms and stir to heat through for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute to deepen its flavor, then pour in the crushed tomatoes and scrape up any bits from the bottom of the pan.
- Add the dried oregano and dried basil, season with granulated salt and black pepper, and bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.
- Lower the heat and simmer uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and the flavors meld.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning, then serve hot over cooked spaghetti.
